Cyberbully Movie Review

The Movie "Cyberbully" was a movie that aired on ABC family this summer, it basiclly was about a girl, named Taylor who got harassed online on a social networking site after she got a new laptop for her birthday. It then started going downhill as the bullying increased and she was being turned against by her friends.

Personally I thought that this movie was made in order to communicate the message that cyberbullying is a serious matter, and even though you are not seeing it you are hurting someone worse then you will ever think because now you can be bullied at home as well as school.

I thought that the story was a little bland, but it was a T.V movie after all, but in my opinion, this main person knew nothing on the basics of internet privacy. In order to have a social networking profile, you need to learn about privacy. On Facebook you can report abuse and block people so you don't see their bullying online. This girl took no precautions and when he friends tried to defend her and help her at the beginning, she chose some boy over them.

Emily Ostment did a good raw performance in this movie, she cried when she needed to cry and she tried to put herself into Taylor's shoes, which is important in acting.

Phoebe Prince, is an example of a cyberbully victim and she committed suicide by hanging herself. We shouldn't let people do this to themselves. It has to end. That was the message of the movie. Its gotten worse too, the cyberbullying. At my school people get cyberbullied and we aren't afraid to stand up to the bully's and tell them that it is wrong.

Overall Cyberbully had a good message, but it wasn't really the best plot and way to show that message. I was practically screaming at the girl because of her ditching her friends for a boy that was a bystander online. The girl was too foolish and didn't try to help herself at all, which wasn't that smart. C+

  1. i didnt like it. maybe instead of a blond pretty girl, they should have placed a better example of victims. foreigner, black, handicapped, ugly, depressed, lower class, lober. All the victims been same way in real life ...not blond and goodlooking with friends and cheer. The movie would have been more interesting, outstanding and REALISTIC without a happy end. Most of times it doesnt end this way. This movie look like just another high school drama.

PS: Might be double post. Crashed durring posting.

  2. I agree with you 100%, but this is what Hollywood is like , its like they feel that the actresses have to be perfect or skinny in order to get people to watch it. This isn't true , it would even help them if the actresses looked more normal! Also, yes if the ending wasen't happy the message would've gotten across better, but this is a ABC movie, I don't think people would die in it. I can imagine a cinema movie ending like this but not ABC. The reason I diden't give it a lower mark was because the message of cyberbullying still got to me after watching the movie!

Commenting is a great way to share your thoughts with me! Do you agree with me or disagree with me? I would want to know! Remember, I have feelings too, don't take things personal
