My Life In Black and White

If you lost the one thing that defined you, who would you be?

This is the simple premise of the book "My Life in black and white" by Natasha Friend. This book was a surprisingly easy and fast read for me, and had great heart.

This book is about a girl named Lexi, and looks are her defining feature. Everyone tells her she is pretty and she knows it. After a tragic car accident- which sends her going through a windshield her face gets torn apart and she looks nothing like she used to. She learns to cope with this, while trying to deal with what happened that night.

I liked this book a lot. It was one of those books with every aspect in it, with love, friendship, family and all these things were treated equally with each other. This book also talks about finding yourself and staying true to those around you.

I really liked the characters in this book, they were all very realistic characters that everyone could relate to. This situation was really realistic and so was Lexi's reaction to it. This book was just very real.

All in all, I think that this is not just a summer read but an all year read. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a moderate read, wants to learn something and wants a book that they won't be able to put down.

The Summer I Turned Pretty- Series Review ( By Jenny Han)

To start my summer I took out about 17 books from my library, and the book The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han was one of the first ones that I picked up to start my cottage reading. This book, my oh my was not what I expected it to be. Usually, for cottage reading I try to pick up easy reads; fluffy, simple plotted books, and judging by the name The Summer I Turned Pretty I was not expecting much from this book. I mean, thats not really a name for a book that crushes your heart.

Nevertheless, I couldn't put this book down. I devoured this book. It was like nothing i've ever read, and I finished- yes the entire trilogy of these books in less than 24 hours- yes friends, i'm obsessed.

This is one of the books that you have to read for yourself to find out how emotional it is. This book centres around a girl- Belly, who goes to the same beach house, every summer for her entire life. She goes with her mom and her brother, Steven. They go to this beach house with her moms best friend, and her two sons Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher. Belly, has grown up with these boys and has loved Conrad for as long as she can remember, but Conrad is two years older than her so he treated her like a child. This summer, is the summer where Belly has finally acquired enough confidence to go after Conrad, and hope that he sees her that way. This book doesn't stop just there- We are forced not just into a love triangle- but a love square???

I found the first book, enticing and couldn't put it down and the same with the other two books. I've even forced my mom to read them. I am by NO MEANS, a hopeless romantic and I enjoyed these books. It is not only about Belly's relationship with the boys, but the book goes through friendships and family just as much. Lastly, don't think you're weird if you fall in love with at least one of the Fisher boys after reading these books- you're not the only one.

Waiting Book Review (Book by Carol Lynch Williams)

so summer is officially here for me and I am going to be reading a lot so this is gonna be one of many book reviews. The book I just finished reading is called waiting and its basically about a girl recovering from the death of her brother ( I don't want to reveal too much) but basically she gets torn between two guys.

Don't be fooled though, it's not your typical love triangle.

This book was so well written, when I was reading it, London's pain became mine and I actually had to take frequent breaks because I became so sad reading it and feeling her pain and her loss. Part of the book was actually written in freeverse poems, which I found really cool because those as well really showed off London's emotions.

The characters had so much development throughout the novel, especially London who's inner thoughts were heard the entire time. You can really see how she craves her mothers attention.

I literally read this book in less than 24 hours, and my mom read the entire thing just this morning! I'm going to check out the other books by this author because her writing style is fantastic! I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read!
